After Pahalgam Attack, Pakistan Expresses Willingness for Neutral Investigation
Indian and Pakistani forces exchanged gunfire for a second consecutive day after 26 people were killed in Pahalgam, located in Indian-administered Kashmir, earlier this week. India has blamed Pakistan for the deadly assault.l
In response, armed police and soldiers have launched extensive searches of homes and forests across Kashmir, while India’s army chief conducted a security review of the region. Additionally, Indian authorities have vowed to prevent "even a drop" of water from flowing into Pakistan, announcing the suspension of their participation in the crucial Indus Waters Treaty.
Relations between the two nations have sharply deteriorated, with both sides imposing strict diplomatic measures, including border closures, suspension of trade, and the expulsion of security officials.
Meanwhile, Pakistan's Interior Minister, Mohsin Naqvi, has called for an impartial investigation into the attack, expressing Islamabad’s willingness to cooperate and its preference for a peaceful resolution.
Border Villages in Kashmir Gear Up Amid Rising Tensions
Residents of the border village R.S. Pura in Jammu and Kashmir are undertaking the cleaning of community bunkers today, amid rising diplomatic tensions with Pakistan following a brutal rebel attack in Pahalgam.
"As residents of the border areas, we are acutely aware that any escalation within India will impact us first," said Balvir Kaur, speaking to Reuters news agency.
"We are taking proactive measures to ensure our preparedness in the event of further hostilities. It is our intention that the Indian government should not be burdened with concerns regarding the safety of those living along the borders. We wish to demonstrate our resilience and readiness."
Odisha State in India to Deport 12 Pakistani Nationals
Prithviraj Harichandan, the Honourable Law Minister of Odisha, stated that at least twelve individuals holding short-term visas have been identified for expulsion.
"The government will undertake all necessary measures in this regard, and the individuals concerned will be deported shortly," he informed reporters in Bhubaneswar, the capital of the eastern Indian state.
The Minister further noted that the police are actively continuing their efforts to "identify additional infiltrators."
This action follows India's decision to revoke several visas issued to Pakistani nationals in response to the deadly attack that occurred on Tuesday.

Sakina Itoo, the Honourable Health Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, has met with the Governor of Punjab, Gulab Chand, to formally request the implementation of measures to safeguard Kashmiri students and members of the Kashmiri business community, following a surge in assaults subsequent to Tuesday’s tragic attack.
According to the ANI news agency, the Governor assured the Minister of his full support and cooperation.
Meanwhile, Kashmiris residing across various parts of India informed Al Jazeera that they have experienced acts of reprisal in the aftermath of the attack, including instances of eviction and physical violence
