 New Delhi | May 7, 2025

In a bold and decisive military maneuver following the barbaric Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 Indian lives, India has launched Operation Sindoor, a surgical strike campaign targeting terror camps deep inside Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).

According to a high-level briefing by Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, alongside Col. Sofiya Qureshi and Wing Commander Vyomika Singh, the operation successfully neutralized nine major terror facilities, including sites linked to Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), and Hizbul Mujahideen (HM). These were located in Bahawalpur, Muridke, Sialkot, Kotli, and Muzaffarabad.

“Pakistan has long functioned as a safe haven for terrorism. This operation was India’s rightful act of self-defence,” said Misri during the media address.

In a significant escalation, India’s Akash surface-to-air missile system reportedly shot down a Pakistani JF-17 fighter jet, marking a direct confrontation between the two nations’ air forces. The incident has further intensified the already strained relations.

PM Modi Monitors Operation Overnight

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is said to have monitored Operation Sindoor “throughout the night,” staying in constant touch with top military brass. Sources within the PMO confirmed that the Prime Minister received real-time updates as Indian Air Force squadrons launched precision strikes on terror hubs.

Flight Operations Impacted, Border Villages Evacuated

As tensions mount, civilian flight operations have been suspended at Srinagar airport and several northern airbases. International airlines like Korean Air and IndiGo have rerouted their flights to avoid Pakistani airspace.

Residents of border villages like Tindiwala in Punjab and vulnerable areas of Jammu and Kashmir are being relocated to safer zones, said J&K Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha. "We are ensuring boarding, lodging, and safety of all affected citizens," he added.

Political and Global Support Floods In

Leaders from across the political spectrum have voiced support for the Indian Armed Forces:

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh: “Bharat Mata Ki Jai!”

Congress MP Imran Pratapgarhi: “Jai Hind, Hindustan Zindabad.”

Sharad Pawar: “The nation is proud of our armed forces’ befitting reply.”

Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma and Chirag Paswan: Also expressed unwavering support on social media.

Israeli Ambassador Reuven Azar: “Israel supports India’s right to self-defence. Terror has no sanctuary.”

Operation Sindoor: Strategic and Symbolic

This strike is seen not just as a military response but also a strategic message to those who shelter and fund terror. “This was not just about retaliation, it was about dismantling the very roots of cross-border terrorism,” said Col. Qureshi.

Nation on Alert, But Resolute

In Delhi, security has been significantly heightened with mock drills and surveillance intensified. CM Revanth Reddy of Telangana has called for an emergency meeting to reinforce state-wide security measures.

As global eyes turn to South Asia, India stands united, resolute, and determined to ensure that its sovereignty and civilian lives are not sacrificed to terror.
